Inspired by my recent move and my new apartment, I decided I would find how much ikea furniture or accessories i REALLY own. Sadly, its almost everything. Ikea and Target seem to be my apartments existance. Oh well. Either way, my apartment now looks like an ikea catalogue. So much so, that Ive decided to create my very own ikea mini catalogue. Here are a few examples:

After doing this.. I thought.. WHAT exactly do these words MEAN?? JONAS?? Was my desk named after the Jonas Brothers?? I hope not. Luckily for me, its not. But here are what a few of my items ACTUALLY mean:

So aside from ION CARCASSES, none of my items really translated into anything interesting. But.. what about some of IKEA’s other items?? Lets take a look:

Wow.. so really what this tells me is that IKEA could name their furniture anything they wanted.. and we, the unassuming American, would never know! They could name my favorite couch “LAZY AMERICAN” and i would probably love it just the same. Thats because “LAZY AMERICAN” in Swedish actuallyis “LAT AMERIKAN” .. and doesnt that sound so pretty???

So lastly, and certainly not least.. this encouraged me to create my own Swedish IKEA name. Luckily.. there is already a program that does this for me.  Thank you IKEA, THANK YOU. Oh wait, I mean Tacka dig IKEA, TACKA DIG.
